About this property

CHARMING TWO-BEDROOM COTTAGE IN THE HEART OF MICKLEOVER, WITH CHARACTER FEATURES, TWO GENEROUS DOUBLE BEDROOMS, GARAGE AND FANTASTIC POTENTIAL.

Our agent Alice says:

"What I really love about this cottage is its character, its lovely setting and the fact that you're right in the heart of Mickleover village. Originally an old stable, there's something so charming about this two-bedroom semi-detached home, from the exposed ceiling beams and beautiful brick fireplace to the little details that give it that traditional cottage feel. And whilst there's certainly an opportunity to put your own stamp on parts of the property, I think that's what makes it even more exciting!

As you step inside, you're welcomed by a handy entrance porch, perfect for kicking off your shoes and hanging up your coats before heading through to the lounge. This is one of my favourite rooms in the cottage, and I think you'll see why. The exposed beams and beautiful brick fireplace are such lovely reminders of the property's history, giving this space so much character and charm. There's plenty of room to relax and unwind, with windows overlooking the front, whilst the adjoining dining area offers a lovely space for everything from everyday meals to hosting friends and family.

Moving through to the kitchen, you've got a practical galley-style layout with plenty of cupboard space, work surfaces and room for appliances. Now, whilst the kitchen could benefit from some updating, it's completely usable as it is, and I actually think there's a really exciting opportunity here. If you're someone who loves the idea of putting your own stamp on a home, there's potential to open up into the adjoining garage, to create a much larger kitchen and dining space. I can really imagine how lovely this could be.

Heading upstairs, you'll find two really generous double bedrooms, which is something I particularly love about this cottage. Both offer plenty of space, with fitted wardrobes providing fantastic storage. The leaded-style windows add even more character, whilst skylights on the landing bring in natural light. There's also a family bathroom with a three-piece suite, including a bath with shower over, and a skylight.

Outside, the cottage enjoys such a lovely position overlooking the established communal courtyard, with a pretty planted frontage that really adds to its charm. You've also got an attached garage, which is a brilliant practical addition, and an extra yard area to the right which can be used as parking. I love the flexibility this offers, whether you'd prefer additional parking or somewhere to create a little outdoor seating area to enjoy the evening sunshine.

And of course, we can't forget the location! Being right in the heart of Mickleover village means you've got a fantastic selection of shops, cafés, pubs and everyday amenities practically on your doorstep. For me, this is a cottage with so much charm, a brilliant location and the opportunity to create something really special."

Our sellers thoughts:

“Dad has called this home for over 40 years, and it has been such a special place for our family. He has always loved living here, not just because of the home itself, but because of the wonderful community around him. The neighbours have always been so kind and caring, genuinely looking out for one another. During the summer evenings, he would often sit outside with the neighbours, enjoying cups of tea, chatting and laughing until the sun went down. Christmas was always a special time too, with the beautiful tree in the middle of the courtyard lit up and the decorations looking wonderful. It's these little moments and the lovely people that have made this such a special place to live. We hope the next owners will love calling it home just as much as Dad has.”

The Area:

Mickleover is a fantastic village for the whole family, full of essential amenities there are five primary schools throughout the village, which feed into John Port Academy in the neighbouring village of Etwall. At the start of Station Road, there’s a Tesco Supermarket and a petrol station as well as an array of shops on Uttoxeter Road including a Post Office, Birds, restaurants, a bar, charity shop and takeaways. The buses run frequently into the City Centre which also pass Royal Derby Hospital on the way through with easy access to the major road links including the A38, leading to the A50 and the A52 towards the A6.
